Digital Imaging
Digital imaging can integrate with the EHR module. If integrated, there are three different methods for managing digital imaging in axiUm. Note: While these integrations are used in the EHR, detailed workflow depends on your configuration. For more information, see the sections below, and if necessary, refer to the appropriate documentation.
![]() Basic imaging integrations allow you to launch your imaging software from an Imaging icon that is configured in axiUm. axiUm passes the patient’s ID or chart number, so that software opens with the patient’s record selected. This saves time because users do not have to minimize axiUm, launch the imaging software, and then select the patient. To open imaging software: You can use one of the following methods to launch the configured imaging applications:
Note: The displayed imaging name is generally X-Ray, Imaging, or the name of the software; however, your institution can change the label. If you are not sure which icon to use, contact your axiUm administrator. ![]() Depending on your institution’s configuration, some imaging programs may integrate into the EHR and display x-ray images within the Imaging tab. This allows you to review previously taken x-rays without having to leave axiUm. ![]() axiUm offers advanced imaging integrations with MiPacs, Xelis, and XDR. With advanced imaging integrations, axiUm allows you to send planned/in process x-ray procedures to the imaging software. Once the x-ray procedures are completed, the axiUm procedures are automatically completed as well. This saves you time, as you do not have to manage procedures across multiple software systems. ![]() If your institution is set up to use MiPACS software, you can use it from within axiUm to send x-ray images. To send procedures to MiPACS:
Tip: Press Ctrl to select multiple procedures. MiPACS launches with the procedure(s) automatically created. After completing the procedure(s) in MiPACS, the procedure status in axiUm changes to set to C (Completed) but is unapproved. Notes: ![]() If your institution is set up to use Xelis software, you can use it from within axiUm to send x-ray images. ![]()
Tip: Press Ctrl to select multiple procedures. Xelis launches with the procedure(s) automatically created. After completing the procedure(s) in Xelis, the procedure status in axiUm changes to C (Completed), but is unapproved. Notes: ![]() If an x-ray retake is required, axiUm allows you to send a completed procedure to Xelis. Once the x-ray has been repeated, the exposure count is increased, but the procedure in axiUm is not changed. Note: This is only available to users that do not require approvals.
Xelis opens with the original completed procedure and displays x-ray images the user can retake. A new Patient Exposure count is created. Note: The treatment in axiUm is not updated. ![]() If your institution is set up to use XDR software, you can use it from within axiUm to send x-ray images. When the procedure is completed in XDR, the procedure is also completed automatically in axiUm, and the exposure count is updated to accurately reflect any additional exposures taken. Additionally, you can view previous images if you request the image based on (tooth) site or treatment date. ![]()
Note: Only one procedure can be sent at a time. XDR launches with the procedure(s) automatically created in XDR. After completing the procedure(s) in XDR, the status of the procedure in axiUm is set to C (Completed) and is unapproved. Notes: ![]()
XDR launches and displays images of the patient’s selected teeth. ![]()
XDR launches and displays images for the patient taken on that specific date. |
